Flanked by Rotary Club president Carrie Swan and Chamber of Commerce president Ann Marie Deweese are John Trentacosta of Newtown Savings Bank (Category II winner) and Pat Caruso of Associated Refuse (Category I winner).
On Monday, March 28, 2011 the winners of the 2010 Newtown Business of the Year were announced by joint sponsors Newtown Rotary Club and Newtown Chamber of Commerce. Associated Refuse was named Business of the Year in the small business category and Newtown Savings Bank was named Business of the Year in the large business category. In addition to the winners, the other finalists in the small business category were Katherine's Kitchen and Berkshire Motors. In 2003, the Rotary Club of Newtown in partnership with the Newtown Chamber of Commerce co-sponsored the first Newtown Business of the Year recognition award. The goal of this award is to recognize those Newtown businesses that also unselfishly contribute extraordinarily to the Newtown community through their volunteer efforts, financial support, and in-kind contributions. Each year, a business with 15 or fewer employees (Category I) and a business with more than 15 employees (Category II) is selected for this award. The previous award winners are:
